Down the Great Ocean Road…

With the open air booth safely packed in the back of my car, it’s time for a road trip! Down the Great Ocean Road, I’m headed for The Mantra Hotel in Lorne. The views and scenery along this road are some of the best, it’s hardly a horrible drive.

Arriving in Lorne, it’s time to set up for the Finpro Conference. This event is held annually in Lorne and we are lucky enough to be there for a third year running. Over 300 finance professionals from around the state attend this event and the dinner such a fun night.

With a nautical theme, everyone boarded the SS FinPro for a night filled with delicious food, fabulous 80’s entertainment and photo booth fun. Most made a fantastic effort with costumes which made for really great photos.

The Mantra, Lorne

The Mantra’s function space is perfect for large groups. The room was filled with round tables and the 80’s band up the front for everyone to see. The open air booth sitting pretty in the corner is a great draw card. People are drawn to it from the second they walked through the door, remembering the antics from last year. A lot of people collecting photo booth strips from each years conference. It doesn’t take long for people to warm up and a decent line forms to jump in the photo booth. The line sets in for the night and it’s great to see so many people enjoying the booth. A 3 day conference is broken up nicely with a night for everyone to relax and let their hair down.

Corporate Events

Zuster Photobooths has been invited to many conferences and they all have worked so well. Photo booths can be the best ice breaker or team bonding exercise for any company. It’s nice to let lose and have a keep sake of the people you partied with on the night. Definitely a talking point for the next day or the next time you shoot off an email to those people! Offering a USB containing a digital copy of all the images taken on the night also means a slide show can be created for the conference in the days to follow if that’s what you’d like!

Photo Booths for Weddings – Holly & Ryan

Saying “I Do”

Wedding season is here. Holly and Ryan were married at the Barwon Heads Golf Club a couple weeks back, on Saturday 13th October 2018. October turned on it’s best summer weather with clear blue skies and sunshine, it was simply meant to be.

Their wedding ceremony was held out on the balcony in front of their nearest and dearest, overlooking the beautiful lush and green golf course. Holly’s dad made the timber arbour which was lined with a stunning floral arrangement. It was later transformed into a swing, doubling as the photobooth backdrop. What a brilliant idea, we love a good DIY!!

Barwon Heads Golf Club

The room was simple yet sophisticated. Giant light up letters H & R lit the dance floor while florals and candles sat in the center of each round table. The golf course being the rooms backdrop, where the sun set in perfect view.

Fast forward a couple hours, the reception is in full swing and it’s time to crank up the open air photo booth. There was no warming up required, their guests were straight into it. Photo after photo, they enjoyed the swing and all the props to boot. Holly’s dads handy work was the main topic of conversation and really drew people to come and get their photo’s taken in our photo booth. Holly provided her own artwork, so the photo booth strip matched back to all the wedding graphics. Guests kindly left one photo booth strip behind in the guest book along with their well wishes. Should I mention only one couple managed to fall off the swing and wear their drinks? They took it quite well may I add and luckily no injuries were sustained!

Congratulations

Holly and Ryan made for the most relaxed, chilled out couple and it came through on their wedding day. Everything ran just as it should and all their guests had an amazing night. Congratulations to you both, we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Photo Finish for First Place – Country Racing Victoria

Victorian Country Horse Racing

Country races and photo booths make for the best recipe. You get together with a great group of friends, dress to impress, have a few drinks and enjoy a fantastic day out by the track. You don’t have to be a huge fan of horse racing to make the most of your day either. Just watching the crowds pass by is enough for me, ha! Everyone is in a great mood and there is no better opportunity to have your photo taken. Whether it be the Geelong Cup, Stawell Christmas or Easter Races, Benalla Gold Cup or Mother’s day at the Ballarat Races, the vibe is always fun!

We’ve had quite a few of our photo booths at country races over the past couple of years and each photo booth works just as well as the next. The Open Air Booth is fantastic for the marquees as is our GIF Booth and both the Roll ‘a’ Booth and Little Black Booth (vintage caravan photo booths) get an overwhelming response in public areas or area of high traffic. Then there’s Cubby Booth, ideal for family or kid zones at the races too, giving the kids something to do and keeping them occupied for hours on end!

How does it work exactly?

We are often hired by the Racing Clubs themselves, or it provides a local business with a great sponsorship opportunity wanting to reach a wider audience. Deakin Uni – Geelong Business Excellence Awards 2018

As a small photo booth business based in Geelong, we never dreamt we’d be considered for any type of industry award. Nonetheless, we were nominated for the Geelong Business Excellence Awards for a second year running.

People often talk about how the destination is not important, it’s all about the journey. This is most definitely the case with the Geelong Business Excellence Awards.

The Awards Process

Firstly there is a written submission, which is to consist of no more than 2500 words, meeting criteria on business achievements, marketing, customer service, people & culture and finance. The top 50 entries are then asked to complete a 1.5 hour site visit where you can show a judging panel of two through your business and elaborate on all the criteria listed above. As a home based business, we were thrilled to have utilised the amazing space that is “The Warehouse Geelong” to conduct our site visit and show the judges through the Little Black Booth, our brilliant little vintage caravan photo booth.

This process is such an incredible one for small businesses. It really makes you analyse all areas of your business and where you can make improvements. We learnt an insane amount about ourselves and our business just by entering.

The Presentation Evening

The awards night itself was held on July 26th at The Pier, Geelong. And what a night it was. It is such a humble reminder that we are surrounded by a ridiculous amount of talented individuals and organisations. We were lucky enough to be finalists in two categories – Micro Business and Regional Business. Whilst we did not take out either award, it was such a great night to network and have fun with other like minded businesses. There are definitely no regrets.

We also had our GIF booth in attendance on the night, so it was awesome to get people involved in using our products. The after party at City Quarter (sponsored by none other than the rock stars at BayFM) also featured our Open Air Booth and boy did we get some fantastic photos in that too!

If you’ve ever wanted to nominate a worthy business or perhaps even enter yourselves, our advice is to absolutely go for it and give it everything you have, you’ll be surprised on how much you really learn and grow as business owners.

A massive shout out to the awesome crew at Geelong Chamber of Commerce for their ongoing support throughout the year and also through the awards process!
