Shadow Fax Winery Wedding

Erin & Jarrem say “I do”

Another weekend, another wedding. And what a way to start the weekend. We get to visit some pretty great places and Shadow Fax Winery is no exception. Located in Werribee right next to Werribee Park Mansion, we are taken to Shadow Fax to celebrate the wedding of Erin & Jarrem. A modern A-frame building surrounded by a luscious green lawn area and the vineyard of course. Friday November 2nd, 2018 was a really warm day by Australian standards and very windy, which of course is another weather condition not uncommon in Victoria.

Vintage Caravan Photobooth

I set up our Little Black Booth with the alfresco area to accompany it. The set up takes place prior to guests arriving for the outdoor ceremony, so I have front row seats for all the action. Erin arrives looking absolutely stunning and both her mum and dad walk her down the isle. Following the ceremony, guests have the chance to enjoy a beverage in the sunshine, mingle and make use of the caravan photo booth. People are always blown away by the booth and I will never get sick of hearing that “it’s the best photo booth I have ever seen”.

Trying to Break a Record

As the night progresses I got much busier and people were really enjoying sticking their photo booth strips in the guest book the bride and groom had provided. The messages always start out quite conservative and by the end of the night, end up quite funny. Both Erin & Jarrem’s family members were amongst my booth guests, it was so lovely to see all generations having fun together! I love that there’s no boundaries with a photo booth. We also had a group of people try to set a record with the most amount of people to fit in our caravan. The record stands at about 13 (perhaps a couple more) from memory and I lost count at 11 on this occasion, so it came pretty damn close!

Overall, a really fun night interacting with all of Erin & Jarrem’s guests and I look forward to visiting Shadowfax Winery again some time very soon. Congratulations to the happy couple, it was an absolute pleasure!

Lauren & Cam’s Wedding – Chateau Dore Winery

Bendigo Weddings

27th October 2018. Lauren and Cameron are from Geelong but chose to get married just out of Bendigo at a place called Chateau Dore, so it’s off we go on yet another road trip. I research most venues before arriving so I know what to expect but this time, I had got caught up with the onslaught of wedding season that I just didn’t get around to it. Just over 2.5hrs on the road and I pulled in the driveway. Here stood a stunning venue built back in the 1866.

In the main room, there were three long tables, beautiful green foliage installations hanging form the ceiling and a dance floor near the bar that would get everyone on their feet. I set up the open air booth in the front room where Lauren had requested to use the existing wall as a backdrop. Sometimes this makes me a little nervous just in case it isn’t suitable but to Lauren’s credit it was simply perfect. An old stone and brick wall with a simple floral arrangement hanging from the rafters. Did I mention I was situated right across from the delicious dessert bar? Donuts galore, yoyos, hedgehog and wedding cake just to name a few. Perks of the job I guess!

Open Air Photobooth

Our retro photo booth in black wood and white gloss really tied in with this venue. Gone are the days of big ugly photo booths, and thank goodness for that! People were very impressed with the set up and it wasn’t long before the booth didn’t see any down time. Lauren had her own custom guest book made so all her friends and family were able to leave a copy in the book and write them a personal message. As much as I love digital media and our GIF booth, there’s still something really special about getting the print out and sharing the memories with friends and family. It really gets people of all generations involved.

Let’s take a look

Check out the pics I took on the night. I think you’ll be just as impressed as I was, with every choice Lauren and Cameron made. Congratulations to this wonderful couple, we wish you all the very best for married life!

Photo Booths for Weddings – Holly & Ryan

Saying “I Do”

Wedding season is here. Holly and Ryan were married at the Barwon Heads Golf Club a couple weeks back, on Saturday 13th October 2018. October turned on it’s best summer weather with clear blue skies and sunshine, it was simply meant to be.

Their wedding ceremony was held out on the balcony in front of their nearest and dearest, overlooking the beautiful lush and green golf course. Holly’s dad made the timber arbour which was lined with a stunning floral arrangement. It was later transformed into a swing, doubling as the photobooth backdrop. What a brilliant idea, we love a good DIY!!

Barwon Heads Golf Club

The room was simple yet sophisticated. Giant light up letters H & R lit the dance floor while florals and candles sat in the center of each round table. The golf course being the rooms backdrop, where the sun set in perfect view.

Fast forward a couple hours, the reception is in full swing and it’s time to crank up the open air photo booth. There was no warming up required, their guests were straight into it. Photo after photo, they enjoyed the swing and all the props to boot. Holly’s dads handy work was the main topic of conversation and really drew people to come and get their photo’s taken in our photo booth. Holly provided her own artwork, so the photo booth strip matched back to all the wedding graphics. Guests kindly left one photo booth strip behind in the guest book along with their well wishes. Should I mention only one couple managed to fall off the swing and wear their drinks? They took it quite well may I add and luckily no injuries were sustained!

Congratulations

Holly and Ryan made for the most relaxed, chilled out couple and it came through on their wedding day. Everything ran just as it should and all their guests had an amazing night. Congratulations to you both, we wish you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Rivers Gift Gala Ball 2018 – Welcome to Narnia!

Our GIF Photo Booth Was A Hit!

One of Geelong’s night of nights is the River’s Gift Gala Ball. Tickets sold out this year in a matter of hours. Held on Saturday June 23rd at the stunning Mt Duneed Estate, there is always a sense of mystery and excitement when it comes to the night as they never do thing by halves.
We enter through the main doors and are taken through a beautiful wooden wardrobe, past the warm woolly coats into what can only be described as an absolute winter wonderland. Snow capped trees, statues, lions, chalk murals and all things Narnia.

The team at Igby Productions excelled once again, the transformation of Mt Duneed Estate was incredible, the popular event venue was barely recognisable in fact.

River’s Gift Story

Alex and Karl are the founders of River’s Gift, who sadly lost their adorable son River back in November 2011 at just 128 days old. They have raised close to $1million since beginning their journey to raise awareness, to educate and to “Stamp Out SIDS”.

We were honoured to support this amazing cause with the addition of our GIF Booth for the night. Set up in front of a sleigh, guests sat down inside for some photo booth fun.

Hosted by channel 7’s Nathan Templeton, the night commences with a performance of “A Million Dreams”. If that wasn’t enough to give you goose bumps, we heard from many families who sadly all have babies forever sleeping. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Speeches, constant entertainment, dessert tables, turkish delight cocktails and our GIF booth of course, kept heads turning in awe throughout the entire evening. It truly was a perfectly executed evening indeed.

As their main fundraiser, there was a live pledge throughout the night. Guests jumped online and donated to River’s Gift. Over the course of the evening, they managed to raise over $100k, what an outstanding effort. The generosity of the Geelong community never ceases to amaze me.

I have so much admiration for Alex & Karl and all they have done in River’s honour. As a mum, what they have been through is unimaginable, so Zuster Photobooths will continue to support them in their quest to Stamp Out SIDS.

If you wish to donate to this incredible cause, please jump online at Rivers Gift

Photo Booths: The Juggle is Real….

Zuster Kids Roll 'a' Booth

“I know. Let’s start a business!” Megan and I jumped into starting our own business a little naive I guess you could say. We thought if we run our own business we could be our own boss, choose our own hours and with that would come increased flexibility and we’d have more time with our little ones. Sounds amazing doesn’t it? You know, like it seems to be for everyone else out there running their own business?!

How wrong we were.

Starting our own business was possibly the hardest thing we’ve ever done. Aside from having children. So…mix the two together, and it can be a real struggle at times. There’s a huge difference between running one booth for pocket money and turning it into your full time gig. The fear of the unknown as you quit your day job and throw everything you have into your business. The computer is always open and the kids are always fighting for your attention. Oh, and making a phone call – wow. Kids really know how to turn it up when you’re on a business call. Thankfully, most of our clients ignore it just like we do! There’s so much work behind the scenes which people don’t see and so many sacrifices you have to make. You can never switch off. It consumes you. I hate to think about the amount of unpaid hours we have each put in. But, it’s what you do. And it is because of this, we are fiercely determined to succeed.

Then there’s the mum guilt. Feeling guilty you should be spending more time with your children. Would they be smarter if we spent more time with them? Would i spend less time yelling at them if I wasn’t so busy trying to run a business? Every time we pop our work shirts on to go to an event, the conversation in our house goes a little like this…

“You’re going to work AGAIN Mummy”
“Yes sweetheart. Do you know why Mummy and Daddy work so hard?”
“Yes Mum, so we can live in our new house, do fun things like to go Adventure Park, have a snow house and go on holidays together – so who will look after us while you’re at work?”

The flip side to this is that I hope to instil a strong work ethic within my girls. I want to teach them to become strong and independent women who work hard to achieve their goals. Life can be hard at times and they need to learn things just don’t get given to you. Megan and i were taught this growing up, our parents have always been (and still are) very hard workers

Megan and I couldn’t do this on our own. It really is a “family” business. We are extremely lucky to have an amazing support network. Working long hours over weekends is made even harder when my husband works away. Thankfully we have an incredible family who are willing to help out so we can reach our goals. The same goes for my husband. Every time he walks in the door, i literally walk out on my way to work for what feels like the duration of his time at home.

So every time we receive another booking, it is as exciting as our first. We get all warm and fuzzy inside knowing we are one step closer to achieving our goals. So thank you to each and every one of our clients who have faith in us and the service we are working so very hard to provide.

Hidden Treasures: Byrchendale

byrchendale open air chapel wedding

I keyed the address into Google Maps and off I went with the Little Black Booth in tow.

Estimated travel time: 2hrs and 47mins.

It’s a relatively easy drive about 90mins north of Melbourne, consisting of mainly double lane highways, which is a bonus. I put a lot of faith in Google Maps, especially when the destination is not so familiar to me and I have a strict timeline to adhere to. With a few minutes left until I was due to arrive, I started weaving through a few narrow roads, over livestock crossings (through mud and manure), wondering if Google Maps was sending me on a wild goose chase. Nestled amongst farming country, I then turn a corner and see a diamond in the rough, knowing full well I had reached my destination safely.

Byrchendale.

I pulled into the driveway, admiring the perfectly manicured gardens and lawn. I first passed the open air chapel, which was styled to perfection by the bride, Hannah Peters, and her tribe. I stopped to take photos before walking any further. I later found out this was built by the owner’s daughter Tegan and her husband for their wedding, back in 2014. It is a gorgeous open air chapel with rustic elements, creeping vines and a beautiful arch door for the bride to walk through.

Following the driveway through, I then reach the barn. This was built a couple years later and completed at the beginning 2017 to house the 12+ weddings they hold each year. The stunning timber roof beams and trusses respectfully match that of the open air chapel. It is a beautiful space, open to any styling choice you and your wedding desires. Hannah, being a visual merchandiser, had styled this palace to perfection. Everywhere I looked, was another detail she had thought of.

I parked the Little Black Booth outside next to my neighbour, Hops & Harvest. Based in Maroopna, Melissa and her adorable caravan bar seem to be a part of the decor at Byrchendale. With games, bar tables and umbrellas set up on the lawn area, it’s the prime position for a few canapés, pre wedding drinks and cheeky snaps whilst the bride and groom scoot off for photos.

It was a gorgeous summers night, everyone dancing outside under the festoons and continuing to make the most of our Little Black Booth.

The photos I took with my trusty iPhone probably don’t do this spectacular venue justice, but if you are willing to travel a little distance, you will stumble across this hidden gem and will be truly in awe of its potential for any event.

Thanks to Hannah for allowing Zuster to share in her special day and also to owners Ann, Geoff and Tegan for being so accommodating to me and my Little Black Booth. I will definitely be recommending this place in the future!
